AI Policy Generator

Drafts HIPAA-aligned policies from your environment detail — mapped to §164 citations, versioned, and reviewed by a human before you publish.

A policy library is work. AI Policy Generator does the first draft from your environment detail — scope, roles, systems — in minutes rather than a weekend. A human reviewer still approves before anything is binding.

What it does

  • Drafts policies from a structured environment profile, with §164 citations mapped in-line.
  • Produces draft redlines for existing policies when the environment changes.
  • Flags the clauses that need human judgement (addressable rationales, cost-based exceptions).
  • Routes drafts into the standard policy review and acknowledgement workflow.

How it maps to HIPAA

The feature accelerates the authoring step for §164.316(a) policies, with explicit linkage to §164.306(d) rationales and §164.530(i) Privacy Rule policies. Final approval remains a human decision, as the rule expects.

Where it fits

AI Policy Generator is an AI module capability and feeds Compliance Policies. For the practitioner view on AI tools and ePHI, see HIPAA and AI tools.

Questions

Does the AI see our PHI?

No. The generator is a policy-drafting assistant and only sees policy inputs — scope, roles, systems, environment. It never sees patient records. The underlying model is run under a BAA; see the Trust Center for subprocessor detail.

Does a human still review the output?

Yes. The generator produces a draft; a reviewer with the right role must approve before the policy is active. HIPAA requires a human-decided policy, not an auto-generated one.
