Or the team realises that automation collected the evidence but nobody did the judgement work, and there is no in-house services team to hand it to — implementation and audit work in this category typically route through external partners. Or an enterprise buyer or insurer asks for independent proof rather than a self-attested dashboard. How to choose
Price and speed got you here; do not let them choose the next tool too. Four questions predict real audit outcomes:
- Can it maintain a current, asset-based risk analysis? The §164.308(a)(1) artefact and the first thing OCR requests. A scored questionnaire is not it.
- Can it produce dated evidence on demand? With freshness expiry, so last year’s screenshot cannot masquerade as this year’s control.
- Can it show who acknowledged which policy version? “Who agreed to what, when” is what incidents turn on.

When to stay with Sprinto
Stay if you are early-stage, budget genuinely constrains you, your buyers ask for SOC 2 or ISO 27001 first, and HIPAA is a minor, low-risk part of your exposure. Stay if someone on your team is willing and able to own the judgement work the tool does not do. A cheap checkbox that is honestly understood as a checkbox is a defensible purchase; the trouble only starts when it is mistaken for a programme. Switch when a healthcare customer, an insurer, or OCR asks a question the checkbox cannot answer.
