Five alternatives to Compliancy Group, and an honest note on when you should simply stay. Facts about each competitor below were checked on 28 October 2026 against their sites. Competitor facts move; verify before quoting.
Why people look for Compliancy Group alternatives
Compliancy Group is a HIPAA-focused platform with a long track record in small and mid-sized healthcare organisations. The reasons buyers look elsewhere are almost always structural rather than quality-based.
The most common one is pricing opacity. Compliancy Group does not publish prices on its site, so every evaluation starts with a sales call before you can even model the budget. Enterprise procurement teams and bootstrapped founders both find that friction expensive. The second is the “Seal of Compliance”: it is a vendor-issued mark, not a government or industry-recognised certification, and enterprise security reviewers and cyber insurers increasingly ask for an independent third-party assessment report instead. The third is growth beyond HIPAA: when a customer asks for SOC 2 or ISO 27001, a HIPAA-only tool has nowhere to extend — you buy a second platform with a second control set.
None of these are flaws in Compliancy Group so much as boundaries of the HIPAA-first, services-light category it sits in.
Alternatives considered
1. SuperHIPAA
Best for: teams that want published pricing, HIPAA depth, and in-house services and independent assessment reports in one place.
- Published tiers: Starter $399/month, Growth $899/month (both billed annually), Enterprise from $2,400/month. 14-day trial, 3-year price lock, free migration.
- Services delivered by our own healthcare compliance team at fixed fees: gap assessment from $4,500, risk analysis from $6,500, implementation from $18,000, Virtual HIPAA Officer from $2,500/month.
- Independent third-party assessment reports — a dated document you hand to an enterprise customer, insurer or investigator.
- SOC 2 and ISO 27001 on the same control set on Growth and above, so HIPAA evidence is reused.
When to choose: you want HIPAA done right, with services and reports attached, and you expect a SOC 2 or ISO 27001 ask within 18 months.
2. Accountable HQ
Best for: small practices that need a HIPAA-only tool and little else.
- HIPAA-focused platform aimed at small and mid-sized organisations.
- Self-serve workflows for policies, training, risk documentation and BAAs.
- Published tiered pricing.
- No in-house services arm and no independent assessment report.
When to choose: you have the compliance work in-house, you need tooling to track it, and HIPAA is your only framework for the foreseeable future.
3. Vanta or Drata
Best for: multi-framework GRC automation across SOC 2, ISO 27001 and HIPAA at scale.
- Broad control libraries covering many frameworks, with deep integrations.
- Automated evidence collection from cloud and SaaS tools.
- HIPAA is one framework among many — depth on the Privacy Rule and healthcare-specific workflows is typically shallower.
- Services usually referred to a partner network rather than delivered in-house.
When to choose: SOC 2 is your primary driver, HIPAA is a tag-along, and you have a security engineer who will own the implementation.
4. MedTrainer
Best for: healthcare organisations whose primary pain is training and credentialing, with HIPAA attached.
- Learning-management-system-first platform with HIPAA, OSHA and other healthcare training content baked in.
- Credentialing modules for provider enrolment and licence tracking.
- Compliance tooling is lighter than a dedicated HIPAA platform.
When to choose: training compliance and credentialing dominate your workload and the HIPAA policy/evidence side is secondary.
5. Abyde
Best for: solo practitioners and very small practices that want HIPAA on autopilot.
- Small-practice-focused HIPAA platform with guided workflows and self-paced training.
- Compact feature set — intentionally — and competitive price point for solo and small offices.
- Thin on multi-framework or enterprise features.
When to choose: you are a solo or sub-ten-person practice, you need HIPAA done once a year without thinking about it, and you will not need SOC 2.
When to stay with Compliancy Group
- You need OSHA tracked tightly alongside HIPAA in one tool and the current workflow is working.
- You value the long tenure, the installed-base community, and the “Compliance Coach” model.
- Pricing opacity is not a procurement blocker for you.
Switching platforms is disruptive. Switch when something concrete is missing — multi-framework reach, published pricing, in-house services, or an independent report — not for a change of dashboard.
What to ask every vendor on this list
- Can we see a sample independent assessment report, or is the artefact a vendor-issued seal?
- What is on the published pricing page today, and is there a multi-year price lock?
- Who delivers the risk analysis — your team, our team, or a partner we have never heard of?
- When a customer asks for SOC 2 next year, what happens — same platform, or a separate purchase?
Score each vendor on those four. The evaluation scorecard below does it for you.
